This infographic served to educate patients with headaches on the risk of unnecessary neuroimaging. In emergency medicine, many patients want answers no matter the cost.
I laid this infographic out as a kind of story, with every ‘step’ of the graphic working to reassure the patient that their headache is likely nothing to be concerned about. The theory is that once the patient is reassured they can stop reading, but if they are still nervous they can move on to the next section. Reassurance methods can be seen in many different forms, using data visualization techniques to show the user how minute the possibility is that they need to be concerned.
